Isadora Duncan

Angela Isadora Duncan was an American dancer. Born in California, she lived in Western Europe and the Soviet Union from the age ofuntil her death at age 50. She performed to acclaim throughout Europe.

Angela Isadora Duncan was born at 501 Taylor Street in San Francisco, California to Joseph Charles Duncan , a banker, mining engineer and connoisseur of the arts, and Mary Isadora Gray . Duncan was the youngest of four children. Her two brothers were Augustin Duncan and Raymond Duncan her sister, Elizabeth Duncan, was also a dancer. Soon after Isadoras birth, her father was exposed in illegal bank dealings, and the family became extremely poor.
